With everything I paint – people, facets of nature – I try to work out
the hidden positive essence of my subject. Evil and ugliness are real
and I am not blind to the dark sides of things, but in my work my
focus is on the good and the beautiful, which are just as real.
So I direct my attention towards the charming aspects of what I see
and concentrate on the small and pleasently touching moments.
They are so easily overlooked and neglected in our everyday hustle
– and yet so fascinating. Dissecting, unmasking and provocation?
I gladly leave them to others.
